RAPID CITY, SD—For a third summer, the popular Hydrant Block Parties are returning, with a pair of fun-filled events scheduled and hosted by the City’s Parks and Recreation Department.
The hydrant block parties will be held Wednesday, June 18 at Sioux Park and Wednesday, July 23 at College Park, both scheduled from 1-3 p.m.
The hydrant parties are free and open to all ages with fire department staff turning on the fire truck hoses to get participants wet.
The parties include lots of water, games and fun! Staff from the Rapid City Fire Department, Rapid City Police Department, Rapid City Public Library, Solid Waste Division and Parks and Rec will be participating.
“Everyone gets wet at the hydrant parties!” said Parks and Recreation Special Events Coordinator Lindsey Myers. “It’s always a great time with lots of fun, laughter, smiles and noise. It’s a great way to cool off and we still haven’t been able to determine who has the most fun – the kids or the adults.
“Kids are encouraged to bring their squirt guns and other water toys from home.”
In case of inclement weather, the events will be scheduled one week later at the same locations and times. Check for updates on the Rapid City Parks and Recreation Facebook page
