RAPID CITY, SD – The Rapid City Historic Preservation Commission will host two free historic preservation events in June!
The events are scheduled June 5-7 and include a Historic Preservation Seminar on June 5 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Dahl Arts Center and Historic Window Restoration Workshops June 6-7 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the ‘Y’ House, 830 Quincy Street. The events are free and open to the public with registration required.
Scott Sidler, president of Austin Historical, Inc. will be the featured presenter at each event. Austin Historical, Inc. is an Orlando-based historic restoration company which serves the needs of historic building owners. Sidler has an extensive knowledge on historic design and construction techniques, and currently serves as the vice-president of the Parramore Main Street District, vice-chair of the Orlando Historic Preservation Board, and the Window Preservation Alliance Board.

June 5th – Historic Preservation Seminar – 9:00-10:30am – Dahl Arts Center:
- Financial benefits of historic preservation for both homeowners and communities
- How preservation affects property values
- How preservation benefits the local economy and the environment
This 90-minute presentation will give important information on the value of preserving historic resources.
June 6th-7th – Historic Window Restoration Workshop – 8:00am – 5:00pm – “Y” House – 830 Quincy St:
- This two-day hands-on workshop will teach participants how to repair and restore historic windows. This is an exciting opportunity to learn several detailed window restoration processes.
