Main Street Square was full of laughter and smiles on Saturday June 21st, 2025 at the annual Kids carnival sponsored by Scull Construction, BluePeak Internet, Affordable Nflatables , and Prairie Edge.
Brightly colored inflatable bounce houses and water slides provided by Affordable Nflatables filled the middle of the square with castles, palm trees and Spider-Man. Children gleefully sprinted from each attraction in order to enjoy them all.
At the corner of the square near Who’s Toy Store was a shared booth with face painting and the creation of balloon animals. A long line formed as children awaited their turn to be transformed by paint or receive a creature deftly made of twisted rubber.
The perimeter of Main Street Square had informational booths from Weather- Tite LLC, Black Hills Health and Wellness Center along with Rapid City Orthodontics.
The fountains blasting water high into the sky provided relief from the heat and created rainbows . CEF – Child Evangelism Foundation and Bubble Hub filled in the area adjacent to the bandshell.
A closed off area of 6th Street on the side of Prairie Edge Trading Company and Gallery is where all the games of chance could be found. Main Street golf, Frisbee golf, modified darts ,Plinko, cornhole, a target gallery, and a fishbowl toss were strategized by kids of all ages to win tickets. These tickets could then be redeemed for prizes held securely at the bandshell.
Opposite the row of games many other vendors were found including – Your Home Improvement Co, WaTiki Indoor Water Park Resort, Dirty Pop, The Cookie Tin Boutique, Renewal by Anderson, Rapid Energy Nutrition, a suicide prevention information area and Crochet Crafted by Cheyenne were adorable yarn critters resided.
The Rapid City Rush were also represented. Children could practice their slapshot into a small net while parents entered the giveaway for a game used stick. Nugget, the Rush mascot strolled throughout the carnival to the thrill of all in attendance.
It wouldn’t be a Rapid City event without a conclave of food trucks available to satisfy appetites. In attendance for this event was KZ’s backyard BBQ, Patazazules Ecuadorian Cuisine, and El Mexicano. For those with a sweeter tooth Kettle Corn and Kona Ice were also available.
The hundreds of individuals in attendance at this year’s Kids Carnival had a beautiful day to enjoy the outside festivities and warm weather.
