Gunshots From Moving Vehicle Lead to Four Arrests

RAPID CITY, SD — On Thursday morning, four individuals were detained following reports of gunshots fired in the air from a vehicle at North 7th St. at 3am. 

Following these reports dispatched police were able to locate a suspect vehicle at 5:35am at the Maverick station at 1624 Haines Ave. “The vehicle’s four occupants were located inside the store and detained. Police observed an open alcohol container in the suspect vehicle and also located a loaded handgun inside. The firearm was determined to be stolen,” said the RCPD in a statement following the arrest.

Suspects were determined to be 19-year-old Ashton Shaw of Rapid City, who was placed under arrest for firing a weapon from a moving vehicle, as well as 22-Year-Old Lilianna Patton who was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, as well as suspicion that she had violated the terms of her parole. Two other unnamed juveniles who were in the vehicle at the time were also arrested, and processed through the juvenile justice system.
