RAPID CITY, SD — At 2pm on June 9th Rapid City Police were dispatched to the 1800s block of Brentwood Street in pursuit of a report: A male victim had suffered a gunshot wound following an altercation which police believe to be drug-related and “not random in nature”.
“On arrival, police located the male with an apparent gunshot wound to his shoulder. A medical unit arrived and transported the male to the hospital for the treatment of serious, non-life-threatening injuries. After speaking to witnesses, police learned the shooting incident may have occurred at an apartment at 20 Surfwood Drive and police obtained a search warrant for the apartment.” said RCPD representative Brendyn Medina in a statement following the incident. Investigation is ongoing, however due to the nature of the event investigators are facing a challenging lack of details as neither the victim nor witness to the event wish to cooperate with law enforcement.
