RAPID CITY, S.D. – A shooting incident and subsequent police pursuit in Rapid City on Friday has led to the arrest of two men, the Rapid City Police Department confirmed, shedding more light on the events in Rapid City.
Police were initially dispatched to 3737 Sturgis Road at about 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 after multiple gunshots were heard following a dispute.
A black pickup truck associated with the gunfire was later allegedly involved in the theft of ammunition at 1001 E. Mall Drive, Fleet Farm. A police pursuit began when the truck failed to stop for officers. The chase ended in the 700 block of E. Anamosa Street, close to the North Walmart, where several individuals were detained.
Following the arrests and further investigation, 21-year-old Antwon Long Visitor was identified as the person who fired the weapon. The investigation determined the gun was fired into the air, and not at another party as originally reported by witnesses. Long Visitor was placed under arrest for 11 counts of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.
The driver of the pickup, 22-year-old Kaege Snyder, was also arrested. His charges include Driving Under Suspension, First-Degree Eluding, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, No Proof of Insurance, Obstruction and multiple active warrants.
The RCPD’s Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to investigate the overall incident.
