ABERDEEN, S.D. – Aberdeen Central scored midway through the second half to hand the Rapid City Stevens boys soccer team its first loss of the season Saturday with a 1-0 win in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen Central’s Bryson Burgard scored in the 58th minute, pushing the ball past Raiders keeper Creed Tennyson after a scramble in front of the net. The goal was one of just five shots on goal for the Golden Eagles.

The Raiders, who are now 5-1 on the season, searched for the equalizer over the final 20 minutes of play. Their best opportunity came with less than three minutes remaining, but the Golden Eagles defense blocked a couple of shots in front of their net. Rapid City Stevens also recorded five shots on goal in the match. The team returns home to the Black Hills for their next game.
