RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Tacos Los Carnales food truck caught fire at Corral Drive Elementary School Thursday night, but quick action from the school’s principal and local firefighters prevented injuries. The incident took place during a “meet your teacher” event.
According to witnesses, food truck employees were unable to contain the flames that erupted in the grill area. Corral Drive Elementary Principal Drew Foley reportedly grabbed a fire extinguisher and gave it to the employees. Rapid City Fire Department crews, including Ladder Truck #6, arrived and ultimately put out the fire.
No injuries were reported. The food truck sustained visible damage to its hood and side. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
