DEADWOOD, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a 70-year-old male from Pompano Beach, Florida died in a single motorcycle crash Thursday evening.
The crash happened just before 7:00 p.m. on U.S. Highway 14A, about a mile east of Deadwood.
The patrol says the male was driving a 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on U.S. Highway 14A when he left the roadway and entered the ditch, separating from his bike.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident marks the first fatality in the hills as part of this year’s motorcycle rally.
