TAKINI, S.D. — Numerous fire departments responded to a pair of fires that evacuated the Takini School Monday afternoon.
The Takini Fire was being fought by several agencies, including fire departments from Faith, Isabel, Sturgis, Eagle Butte, Dupree and Enning.
According to the Takini School Facebook page, the Cherry Creek gym was being used for members of the school and community needing shelter.
School has also been cancelled Tuesday.
There was no word on the size of the fire, but crews were dealing with dry, windy conditions and having enough water to fight the fire.
