Fire crews knock down blaze southwest of Hermosa Wednesday

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Fire crews quickly knocked down a wildfire in the Hermosa area Wednesday afternoon.

The Highway 36 Fire was reported just after 2:00 p.m. just north of Highway 36 southwest of Hermosa.

The fire burned in grass and timber with active ground and torching.

Fire crews were able to stop forward progress of the fire and it was declared 100-percent contained as of last night.

The fire burned approximately 3.6 acres. The fire’s cause was under investigation.
