RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Fire Department responded to structure fire on N LaCrosse Street early Thursday morning.

Fire officials say they were called to the location at approximately 1:30 a.m. where they found flames and smoke coming from the third story window of the hotel at 2100 N. LaCrosse Street.

Crews were familiar with the address because it was supposed to be vacant but knew there have been recent reports of people occupying the structure without authorization. This along with the sheer size of the hotel made searching the structure a complex process.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
