RAPID CITY, S.D. – A woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery at a Rapid City apartment on September 6.
Rapid City police responded to a report of a robbery at 901 E. North Street around 5:30 p.m. The victim told police they had been robbed at gunpoint at a nearby apartment. The individual, who was visiting Rapid City, said they were looking to buy marijuana and were directed to an apartment at 225 E. Watertown Street.
Upon entering the apartment with a female, an unknown male brandished a gun, assaulted the victim, and demanded their personal property, including a phone. The victim complied and was able to escape the apartment and contact police.
Following the incident, police obtained a search warrant for the apartment. Officers ordered several individuals out of the residence, and the victim identified one of them as the female who had invited them inside. She was identified as 25-year-old Shayna Long, of Rapid City.
During the search, several of the victim’s belongings were found in the apartment. Long was arrested and transported to the Pennington County Jail. She faces charges of First Degree Robbery, False Imprisonment, and Interference with Emergency Communication.
