Female passenger involved in I-90 accident dies from injuries

STURGIS, S.D. – An 80-year-old female passenger in a December 10 crash near Sturgis, SD, passed away Monday evening from her injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the driver of a Toyota Tacoma pickup was traveling west bound on I-90 near mile marker 36 and lost control of the vehicle. The pickup entered the center median and roll over, landing on its roof in a paved crossover area.

The driver and a passenger were taken to a nearby hospital. The driver sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The names of the persons involved have not been released pending notification of family members.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
