Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man died Tuesday evening after a motorcycle crash on West Omaha Street, the Rapid City Police Department reported. The identity of the rider is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on July 29, officers were dispatched to the intersection of West Omaha Street and Cross Street for a report of a single-vehicle motorcycle crash.

Investigation at the scene revealed the motorcyclist had accelerated onto West Omaha Street from Founders Park. The motorcycle reportedly began to fishtail, left the north side of the roadway, and struck a light post.

The injured rider was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The Rapid City Police Department’s Critical Accident Reconstruction Team (CART) is actively investigating the incident. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
