Guitar Masters Concert

It’s all about that axe for the 2025 Guitar Masters concert. The concert is scheduled for 7:00pm on Friday April 11th in the Dahl Events Center. Backroom Productions has presented the Guitar Masters show for 24 years. The organization had to skip a couple shows during the pandemic.

Vice President of Backroom Productions, Barb Evenson had this to say about the long running concerts, “Seeing four great players in one show at Guitar Masters makes this quite different from a regular concert. Hearing just one player, you miss out on the contrast and comparisons. With this lineup, audiences understand and appreciate a lot more about each musician’s choices – the guitar, strings, tuning, songs, finger style, songs. The audience has a great time, but it also is interesting. Young musicians seem especially inspired by the experience.”

The masters play in a round-robin style, sometimes trading guitar riffs or providing rhythm guitar for another master’s performance. The Guitar Masters 2025 are: Chris Mangione, jazz and blues master, yes he is part of that NYC jazz Mangione family, Josh Marquis, genre defying performer, you never know what you are going to get, Matt Buehner, rock and jam music master, plays well with others, and Chris Douglas, rock, blues and Spanish guitar. Chris has been out of the area honing his skills and is glad to be back to perform at the Rapid City Guitar Masters show.

Tickets for the series are $20 for adult tickets. Students are $15. The doors will open at 6:30pm.

Advance ticket purchases are recommended. The one night shows have sold-out for the past two years. Advance tickets can be purchased through Backroom at backroomproductions.org. Tickets will also be available at the door.
