CUSTER, S.D. – Officials in Custer County say they were busy Tuesday after a dump truck tipped over on Sylvan Lake Road.

The Custer County Sheriff’s Office says the truck was laying sideways, across the highway, and spilled a load of dirt onto the road.

The Custer Volunteer Fire Department posted photos of the scene on their social media channels. They also posted the following statement:

“To watch the crew of LJ’s do what they do, is remarkable and amazing! These accident scenes take time and patience. In the meantime we were able to hang out with personnel from, Custer County Sheriff and South Dakota Highway Patrol.

Thanks to Custer Ambulance Service, Inc., Custer County SD Search & Rescue, and of course Custer County Communications for their assistance as well!

On the way back to town, we came upon a motorcycle accident and we all went back to work together again!”

No serious injuries were reported. According to the Custer Fire Department, it took five hours for the highway to be cleared.
