RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Police Department (RCPD) and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to host a National Drug Takeback Day event this Saturday, offering residents a safe and convenient way to dispose of unused or unwanted medications.
The event is part of a nationwide effort to combat drug misuse by removing potentially dangerous expired, unwanted, or unused prescription and over-the-counter medications from homes. Proper disposal prevents medications from being flushed down the toilet or thrown in the trash, which can pose environmental and public health hazards.
The public can bring their unwanted medications to the lobby of the Public Safety Building, located at 300 Kansas City Street, in Rapid City. The collection will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This initiative provides a crucial service to the communities within the Black Hills region of South Dakota, aiming to reduce the risk of accidental poisoning, overdose, and substance abuse.
