Door Bullet Hole, Shrapnel Injury Reported in Early Morning Rapid City Shooting

RAPID CITY, S.D. – An investigation is underway after a pistol was reportedly fired into a residence in Rapid City early Thursday morning, resulting in minor injuries to one occupant.

Rapid City Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of E. Tallent Street at approximately 7:15 a.m. on Oct. 2 following a report of a gunshot at a home. Upon arrival, police found a bullet hole in a door of the residence.

One individual inside the home received minor injuries after being grazed by shrapnel from the bullet.

Police gathered statements from witnesses at the scene. The RCPD’s Criminal Investigations Division is actively following up on leads as part of the ongoing investigation into the shooting.
