CPA DeShayne Hoag was recently promoted to managing shareholder for CPA and financial advisory firm Casey Peterson, LTD.
Last year, Hoag moved into the role of the firm’s chief operating officer. Before that, she was the director of the firm’s audit team. She will continue to work with some audit clients while managing leaders of human resources, information technology, client experience, administration, and finance.
“I’m incredibly honored to serve as Casey Peterson’s managing shareholder,” Hoag said. “Working alongside our team as we continue to take great care of our clients and push to be the best we can be — as individuals and as a firm — is something I look forward to every day. I’m excited to continue building strong relationships with everyone while we find new opportunities to grow.”
Hoag has been with Casey Peterson since 2012. She graduated from Black Hills State University with a bachelor of science in business administration with a double emphasis in accounting and management.
During her 13 years with the firm, Hoag gained extensive audit experience in sectors including government, nonprofit, and multifamily housing. She also serves on the Young Professionals Advisory Council of the South Dakota CPA Society.
Hoag, originally from Pierre, lives in Rapid City with her husband, Brad, and two children, Myles and Amelia.
With Hoag as managing shareholder, the structure of the firm’s board of directors will change slightly. Hoag will now be board president; Mark Lyons, the firm’s previous managing shareholder, will become vice president; Deidre Budahl will continue as secretary; and Vince Ryan will become treasurer. Lyons also will continue in his role as vice president of the CFO and Controllership team.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the firm’s managing shareholder,” Lyons said. “Leading this talented group has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I’m confident that DeShayne will continue to guide the firm to even more success. I look forward to supporting her in her new role and continuing to contribute to our shared success.”
