RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Arts Council (RCAC) is holding its annual benefit art auction to support local arts and culture. The event, titled The Dahl’s Benefit Art Auction, opens on Nov. 7 with a celebration at the Dahl Arts Center.
The auction will feature works from more than 40 artists from the Black Hills region of South Dakota. The event aims to raise funds for the many visual and performing arts programs and art education initiatives at the Dahl Arts Center.
“The annual art auction is a cornerstone event for the Rapid City arts community,” RCAC Executive Director Travis Dewes said. “It provides support for all of the mission-driven programs that RCAC currently provides while opening doors for program expansions.”
Bidding will take place online from 6 p.m. on Nov. 7 through 5 p.m. on Nov. 15. The virtual auction will showcase over 50 artworks in various mediums and sizes. Participating artists include Emma Rivers, Tim Peterson, and Mary Wipf.
In conjunction with the auction, the RCAC will host the Dahl Haus Art Auction + Haus Party on the evening of Nov. 7 at the Dahl Arts Center. The party will include specialty cocktails, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and a DJ set by Soulscend. A reduced-rate ticket is available for those who only wish to attend the Haus Party dance.
The Dahl Haus theme is inspired by the Bauhaus Art Movement of Germany in the early 20th Century. The movement was focused around absurdist and avant-garde expressions of color, performance, and collaboration – all of which still influence the way arts are experienced today. Bauhaus’ key tenets inspired us to create a community-forward event to celebrate the arts in a fun way.
Tickets are available at thedahl.org/dahlhaus.
Additionally, the RCAC will host a free, family-friendly community appreciation night on Oct. 24, 2026. The event, which commemorates Dahl Arts Center Day, will feature art activities, performances, games, and dessert.
