CUSTER- The Custer City Common Council held a meeting on Sept. 15, 2025, during which it approved a property transfer to the Custer Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau. The meeting, led by Mayor Robert Brown, took place at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers and adjourned at 5:53 p.m..
The council unanimously passed Resolution #09-15-25A, which transfers Lot 1R of Block 106 to the Chamber for a fee of $1. The property is to be used as a visitor center, and if it ceases to be used for that purpose, ownership will automatically revert to the City of Custer. The Chamber will also grant the city a 20-foot easement for a water line.
In addition, the council unanimously adopted Ordinance #937-2026, the 2026 Appropriation Ordinance. The council also approved a $1,000 monthly contract with Battle Mountain Humane Society for animal control services for 2026.
The council unanimously approved a half-page advertisement in the 2026 Custer Area Chamber of Commerce Business and Membership Directory for $875.
The meeting minutes show that the city approved claims totaling $150,396.73, with payments to vendors including Black Hills Energy, RCS Construction, and Sanford Health.
