PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Supreme Court has ended the judicial emergency that was declared earlier this week after technical issues with the state’s network were resolved. The court’s decision, announced today, follows advisories that all network systems are now fully operational.

The judicial emergency, which was put into effect on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, suspended all deadlines and filing requirements imposed by statutes, rules, and court orders. This suspension was retroactive to Tuesday, August 19, 2025, when the network problems first began impacting state systems, including the court system’s eCourts, ePayments, and File and Serve platforms.

The court’s action to both declare and rescind the emergency was in accordance with state law under SDCL 16-3-11 through 15. The resolution of the technical issue means that court operations in Rapid City and throughout South Dakota can now return to normal.
