RAPID CITY — The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office is gearing up for increased summer patrols as tourist season in the Black Hills of South Dakota begins.

With the Memorial Day holiday weekend approaching, authorities are reminding residents and visitors to prioritize safety on the roads. The annual “Click It or Ticket” campaign will be in effect, emphasizing the importance of seatbelt use. Deputies will also be conducting saturation patrols aimed at deterring drunk driving.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone traveling in and around Rapid City and the Black Hills to buckle up for every trip, no matter how short. They also stressed the dangers of impaired driving and urged the public to make responsible choices.

“We want everyone to enjoy their summer in the beautiful Black Hills,” said a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office. “Ensuring your safety and the safety of others on the road is our top priority.”

The increased patrols and safety campaigns are part of the Sheriff’s Office’s ongoing efforts to ensure a safe summer season in Rapid City and throughout Pennington County.
