City officials utilizing survey as additional tool for public input on Plan’s development

RAPID CITY, SD—In addition to input received at a recent open house, City of Rapid City officials are asking the public to participate in a community survey and share their feedback on development of a Downtown Beautification Plan.

The community survey is available at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CJB6Z82 .

City Environmental Planner Morgan Twombly said the City of Rapid City has contracted with Wyss Associates on plan development. Wyss Associates’ projects include the Memorial Park Promenade, Main Street Square upgrades, Kansas City Street improvements and the Sixth Street Corridor.

“The City is bringing forward a cohesive landscape master plan for the future of the downtown district,” said Chris Wehrle of Wyss Associates, Inc. “We received great feedback at the recent open house and we are casting out to capture feedback from more residents as this process moves forward.

“The focus area for the beautification plan is generally described as East Boulevard to West Boulevard, and Omaha Street to Quincy Street. The primary focus of the work will be along Main Street and Saint Joseph Street within this area while incorporating improvements already made along Kansas City Street.”

Subsequent meetings are planned to present the draft master plan and collect additional feedback.
