RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Buck Fire in rural Fall River County is now contained, according to officials. The US Forest Service, which has jurisdiction over the incident, reports the fire burned 58.9 acres.
The fire response was an interagency effort in the Black Hills, with South Dakota Wildfire (SDWF) assisting with a hand crew and two engines. Aircraft were also used to drop retardant and water to suppress the flames. SDWF resources have since been released from the fire.
