Rapid City, SD – In an impressive display of talent and dedication, every graduating senior from the Rushmore Swim Team (RST) has committed to competing at the collegiate level. The announcement highlights the strength of the local program and the bright futures ahead for these accomplished athletes.

Coach David Swank, who leads the Rushmore Swim Team and trains the athletes at the Roosevelt Swim Center, expressed immense pride in the graduating class. “This is a testament to the hard work, commitment, and passion of these young swimmers,” Swank stated. “Seeing each of them earn the opportunity to continue their swimming careers in college is incredibly rewarding.”

The talented group of seniors will be heading to a variety of institutions, representing the depth and breadth of their abilities:

  • Colt Frein will be staying in state and joining the South Dakota State University (SDSU) swim team.
  • Marissa Renaud will also be competing for the Jackrabbits at South Dakota State University.
  • Grace Dawson rounds out the SDSU commits from Rushmore, creating a strong contingent heading to Brookings.
  • Keegan Jones is set to take his talents to Gustavus Adolphus College.
  • Nathan Ainslie will be joining the swim program at Augustana University.
  • Abby Coffey Schryver has committed to swim for Southwest Minnesota State University.

The Rushmore Swim Team, also known as the Rushmore Tsunami, has quickly established itself as a leading age-group swim organization in southwestern South Dakota. Formed in October 2022 through the merger of the Rapid City Racers and GREAT, RST draws members from across the Black Hills region, including Rapid City, Ellsworth AFB, and surrounding communities. Their vision is to be the premier swim organization in the area, and the success of this graduating class underscores their commitment to developing top-tier athletes.

This remarkable achievement not only celebrates the individual accomplishments of these swimmers but also shines a spotlight on the quality of the Rushmore Swim Team and the dedication of Coach Swank. The Black Hills region can take pride in knowing that its young athletes are making waves and will continue to excel in the competitive world of collegiate swimming.
