His arrival is expected to expand the specialized services available to the Black Hills community.

Dr. Cambiaghi brings extensive training from Europe and the United States, specializing in complex open and endovascular aortic surgery and other minimally invasive procedures. He joins the institute’s team, which has recently received national recognition from U.S. News & World Report for abdominal aortic aneurysm repair and heart attack care, and Gold recognition from the American Heart Association for Atrial Fibrillation care.

The new surgeon earned his medical degree from Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan, Italy. He completed his residency and fellowship in vascular surgery at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas, followed by a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital.

He will be performing a range of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular operations at Monument Health, working alongside cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Charan Mungara. Dr. Cambiaghi’s clinical focus includes treating patients with aortic dissection and aneurysms, carotid, coronary, and peripheral arterial disease, and heart valve pathology. He also plans to contribute to the institute’s advanced structural heart and endovascular programs.
