Rapid City, SD – The annual Rapid City Kennel Club Dog Show returns to the area, running from Oct. 17-19 at The Monument, attracting dog owners and competitors from across the state and region. The three-day event, featuring conformation judging, draws focus to purebred dogs assessed against detailed breed standards.
Among the local entries is a Black Hills Boston terrier breeder, Adriana Pingel, who is entering three dogs in the competition. The breeder, who has competed in just over twenty dog shows in the last year, plans to enter the dogs in conformation classes with specific titles in mind.
“I’ve been competing for just over one year” said Pingel This is the first show for my new puppy and I am excited to see how we do. My current goals are to get a champion title for my female and a grand champion title for my male, and see how far we can go with my new puppy, who is a female.”

The three Boston terriers competing include Sammy, a 1-year, 9-month-old male imported from Bulgaria who has already earned his American Kennel Club Champion and BCAT Titles. Lilith, a 1-year, 11-month-old female, was born and raised in South Dakota and currently holds a BCAT title. She needs two wins to earn her AKC Championship title, a key goal for the show. The third competitor, Kali, is a 4-month-old female puppy who will be competing for the first time in the beginner puppy class, a popular and lighthearted category for puppies between four and six months old.
Beyond the pursuit of titles, the shows provide a gathering point for fellow competitors, a time to network and connect with friends made through the sport. Judging for the Rapid City Kennel Club Annual Dog Show is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. each day at The Monument, located at 444 N. Mount Rushmore Road in Rapid City.
