Rooted in the unique spirit of South Dakota, It’s More Than a House delves into the real stories of families rebuilding their lives, volunteers dedicating their time and skills, and the communities coming together to create lasting change. Each episode reveals the multi-faceted impact of housing, exploring themes of triumph, challenge, and the shared mission that unites our region.

“Through the voices of the guests, you begin to understand the multiple aspects of home and why it’s so important to each individual,” said Barbara O’Malley, Chief of Staff for Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity.

The podcast also offers a fresh perspective on the housing industry through engaging storytelling and thought-provoking discussions. Mitchell Stafford, Executive Producer of It’s More Than a House, shared, “Working on this podcast has been an eye-opening experience. As someone outside the housing industry, I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for the complexities and importance of housing. It’s been both fascinating and rewarding to see how these stories come together to create something truly meaningful.”

Scott Engmann, Executive Director of Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity, shared his hopes for the series: “This podcast is a reflection of the incredible resilience and generosity of our South Dakota communities. My deepest wish is that listeners feel inspired to not only reflect on the meaning of home in their own lives but also to take action—whether through volunteering, donating, or simply engaging in the conversation about housing and its impact. Together, we can continue to build homes, hope, and a future for all in the Black Hills.”

Listeners can tune in to It’s More Than a House on air or find it on their favorite podcast platforms. Each episode offers a powerful reminder that a house is more than just walls and a roof – it’s a foundation for dreams, stability, and community.
