RAPID CITY, S.D. – Several area fire departments responded to a grass fire Friday a mile south of Rapid City.
The Black Gap Fire burned approximately 48.4 acres along Highway 79.
State and local resources were on scene battling dry, windy conditions. The fire was contained as of Friday night.
Another fire burned under acre 3 miles southeast of Jewel Cave National Monument.
The Jewel Fire was reported just after 4:30 Friday.
The fire burned around a quarter of an acre and federal, state and local resources responded.
The Jewel Fire was also listed as contained Friday night.
The cause of both fires were under investigation.
