STURGIS, S.D. – The highway patrol is investigating a crash that occurred on Highway 79 just outside the Full Throttle Saloon northeast of Sturgis Wednesday afternoon.
The patrol says the driver of a 2016 Lincoln MKC was traveling south on SD Highway 79 toward the entrance of the Full Throttle Saloon. At the same time, the driver of a 2022 Dodge Ram entered the southbound lane from the Saloon parking lot.
The Lincoln struck the rear of the Dodge, which spun and left the roadway into the east ditch. The Lincoln came to rest in the middle of the roadway. SD Highway 79 was shut down for approximately two hours during the investigation and clean-up.
The 43-year-old female driver of the Lincoln, who was from Belle Fourche, sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The 31-year-old driver from North Branch, Minnesota and a 19-year-old passenger in the Dodge were not injured.
Their names have not been released.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
