
WINNEBAGO COUNTY, IA – A Belle Fourche, S.D., woman was injured and one person was killed following a motorcycle crash in Winnebago County Saturday, July 5, 2025, according to the Iowa State Patrol (ISP). The crash reportedly happened around 4 p.m.
ISP said a 2004 Harley-Davidson FSI and a 2010 Harley-Davidson FKC were westbound on Highway 9 from 150th Avenue, while a 2015 Buick Encore was traveling westbound towards 150th Avenue. ISP then said the Encore crossed the center line, sideswiping the FKC, and colliding with the FSI head on.
According to ISP, the driver of the FSI, David Raak, 21, of Spirit Lake, was killed, while a passenger, Kayla Hudelson, 21, of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, was injured. The driver of the FKC, Daniel Raak, 64, of Spirit Lake, was also injured in the crash. Hudelson and Daniel were both transported to MercyOne North Iowa.
The driver of the Encore, Leroy Weaver, 95, of Buffalo Center, was also reportedly injured, and was transported to MercyOne North Iowa.
ISP is still investigating the crash.
A GoFundMe for Hudelson is underway, organized by Sarah Raak who is a sister to the deceased and a daughter to the other injured motorcyclist from the incident.
According to information on the GoFundMe page, Hudelson has been moved to Rochester, MN and remains in the intensive care unit there, listed in critical condition.
