Tennessee judge to hear arguments about releasing Kilmar Abrego Garcia from pretrial detention

Abrego Garcia is a citizen of El Salvador who had been living legally in the United States before he was wrongfully deported in March. His case quickly became a rallying point for opposition to President Donald Trump’s mass deportation agenda. Prosecutors in Tennessee argue in court filings that he should remain in jail because he is a flight risk and a danger to the community. Abrego Garcia’s attorneys disagree.
