Split doubleheader: Domínguez traded from Orioles to Blue Jays in between games against each other

The Baltimore Orioles have traded reliever Seranthony Domínguez to the Toronto Blue Jays. The trade happened Tuesday between games of a doubleheader between the teams. Domínguez didn’t pitch in the Orioles’ 16-4 win in the opener. He was exchanged for minor league pitcher Juaron Watts-Brown. Then he pitched an inning for Toronto in the nightcap, which Baltimore won 3-2. The Orioles, currently in last place, have also traded other relievers recently. The AL East-leading Blue Jays hope Domínguez can bolster their bullpen.

Who says situational hitting is dead? Orioles tie the major league record with 5 sacrifice flies

The Baltimore Orioles tied a major league record with five sacrifice flies in their 16-4 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. This happened in the opener of Tuesday’s doubleheader. Tyler O’Neill and Cedric Mullins hit sac flies in the first inning. Ramón Urías and Mullins added two more in the third. Jackson Holliday’s flyout in the eighth tied the record. The sacrifice fly became official in 1954, and Baltimore is the fourth team to achieve this feat. The Orioles also hit four home runs in the game.

Why did the Orioles and Rockies keep playing after fans evacuated seats?

The Baltimore Orioles and Colorado Rockies played through rain even after fans were told to move due to potential lightning. The game at Camden Yards continued because the decision to clear fans and the decision to pause the game are made by different authorities. Crew chief Bill Miller said the umpires didn’t see lightning close enough to stop play. Fans were moved around the sixth inning but could return by the end of the seventh. Baltimore’s interim manager praised the decision to prioritize fan safety. The game was never delayed despite the weather concerns.

Orioles make history by turning a 6-0 deficit into a 14-run win against Tampa Bay

No lead is safe this year when the Baltimore Orioles face the Tampa Bay Rays. Certainly not with seven innings still to play. On June 18, Tampa Bay beat Baltimore 12-8 after the Orioles had taken an 8-0 lead in the top of the second. Then on Friday night — nine days later — it was the Rays who opened the scoring with six runs in the second. Only for Baltimore to storm back and rout Tampa Bay 22-8. According to information released by the team from the Elias Sports Bureau, Baltimore became the first team in either the American or National League to win by at least 14 runs after trailing by six.

After falling behind by 6 in the 2nd inning, the Orioles storm back and rout Tampa Bay 22-8

Gary Sanchez homered and drove in four runs, Ramón Laureano scored four times and the Baltimore Orioles stormed back from an early six-run deficit to rout the Tampa Bay Rays 22-8. The Orioles were on the wrong end of a similar comeback against Tampa Bay just nine days earlier, when the Rays rallied from down 8-0 to beat Baltimore 12-8. Tampa Bay opened the scoring with six runs in the second. Jonathan Aranda, Josh Lowe and Brandon Lowe all homered in that inning, but Sanchez, Jackson Holliday, Gunnar Henderson and Coby Mayo went deep for the Orioles.
