Cuylle scores in OT as Rangers beat Kraken 3-2

Will Cuylle scored at 2:42 of overtime and the New York Rangers beat the Seattle Kraken 3-2. Vladislav Gavrikov and Noah Laba scored in the opening period for New York, and Igor Shesterkin finished with 11 saves. Cuylle also an assist for the fourth straight game. Chandler Stephenson and Bradon Montour scored for Seattle, which lost in overtime for the second straight game. It was the Kraken’s sixth overtime game this season. Joey Daccord finished with 24 saves. In the extra period, Cuylle scored from the right circle on a snap shot to give the Rangers their third consecutive win to end the road trip.

Springer and Guerrero deliver for Toronto in Game 3 of the AL Championship Series

Two of Toronto’s biggest stars led the way for the Blue Jays in Game 3 of the AL Championship Series. Springer and Guerrero each hit a solo shot as Toronto finished with five homers overall. Springer had three hits, and Guerrero went 4 for 4 and scored three times in a 13-4 victory over the Mariners. The Blue Jays dropped the first two games of the best-of-seven series in Toronto, ramping up the pressure on the AL East champions for Game 3. Springer went 2 for 8 with a solo homer in the first two games, and Guerrero was 0 for 7 with a walk. The two stars played a major role in a fast start for Toronto in Seattle.

Polanco hits winning single in the 15th inning as the Mariners beat the Tigers to advance to ALCS

Jorge Polanco hit a game-ending single in the 15th inning, and the Seattle Mariners advanced to the AL Championship Series by outlasting the Detroit Tigers for a 3-2 victory in the longest winner-take-all postseason game in baseball history. With one out and the bases loaded, Polanco drove in J.P. Crawford with a liner to right off Tommy Kahnle. Crawford hit a leadoff single, Randy Arozarena was hit by a pitch and Julio Rodríguez was intentionally walked before Polanco’s big swing on the 472nd pitch of the epic game.

Raleigh hits MLB-best 44th homer and Rodríguez connects twice as streaking Mariners top Rays 7-4

Cal Raleigh launched his major league-leading 44th home run, Julio Rodríguez went deep twice and the surging Seattle Mariners defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 7-4 after retiring Ichiro Suzuki’s No. 51 jersey. Seattle extended its win streak to six, the longest active run in the American League, and moved within a half-game of Houston atop the AL West. After hitting the go-ahead homer in the eighth inning Friday night, Raleigh delivered another three-run shot Saturday to put Seattle up 5-1 in the third. Rodríguez connected on the next pitch from starter Joe Boyle, who lasted 3 1/3 innings. Rodríguez also hit a two-run homer in the first, a 436-foot drive, and has 23 home runs this season.
