Sanders played nearly three quarters in Friday’s 30-10 win over the Panthers, completing 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Despite being the fourth-string QB, Sanders made a strong case for more opportunities. The Browns’ next practice is Monday, with joint workouts with the Philadelphia Eagles later in the week. Ohio State’s QB competition between Julian Sayin and Lincoln Kienholz remains too close to call

Ohio State’s quarterback competition between Julian Sayin and Lincoln Kienholz remains close after the first week of preseason practices. Coach Ryan Day says both have shown progress and the decision will go down to the wire. Sayin, a sophomore, has shown better arm strength, while Kienholz, a junior, brings more athleticism. Sayin originally committed to Alabama but transferred to Ohio State. Kienholz had a strong offseason and was named an Iron Buckeye. Quarterbacks coach Billy Fessler emphasized the importance of consistency, especially in situational scenarios like third downs and the red zone.

Trey Hendrickson is ending his holdout and will report to the Cincinnati Bengals on Wednesday. That’s according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the move had not been announced. Hendrickson is an All-Pro defensive end who led the NFL in sacks last season with 17 1/2. He is seeking a long-term extension with guaranteed money that matches what the league’s top pass rushers are earning. Even after he reports to camp, he is unlikely to participate in practice until a deal is in place.

He had one of the best throws of the 80-minute practice on a completion down the middle to tight end Blake Whiteheart during 11-on-11 drills.

Shedeur Sanders had the best throw of the day during organized team activities with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday. He zipped a pinpoint pass to tight end Caden Davis in the back of the end zone during a 7-on-7 red-zone drill. Whether or not Davis got both feet in before going out of bounds was up for debate on social media. However, Sanders was the only one of Cleveland’s four quarterbacks not to take a snap with the first-team offense during 11-on-11 drills. He did take second-team snaps, but slipped and fell on the first play.
