Thunder surge past Clippers 126-107 to extend season-opening winning streak to 8

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 30 points and 12 assists and the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder extended their season-opening winning streak to eight games with a 126-107 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night. Isaiah Joe added 22 points to help the Thunder overcame an early surge by the Clippers to set a franchise record for consecutive victories to start a season. Brewers outclassed by Ohtani and big-money Dodgers as rousing season ends with NLCS sweep

Turned out the National League Championship Series was indeed a mismatch, just as Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy suggested. But not only in payroll and star power. On the baseball field, too. Milwaukee mustered only four runs and 14 hits in a four-game Dodgers sweep that left the Brewers steps short of the World Series once again. The team’s only pennant came in 1982, when Milwaukee was in the American League.

Orion Kerkering’s wild throw ends Phillies’ season and perhaps closes a window to win

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Orion Kerkering received support from his teammates after a costly error led to their elimination from the NL Division Series. Kerkering made a wild throw past home plate, allowing the Los Angeles Dodgers to secure a 2-1 victory in 11 innings and win the best-of-five series 3-1. Phillies players reassured Kerkering, emphasizing the loss wasn’t solely his responsibility. Philadelphia, with 96 wins this season, could lose Kyle Schwarber, J.T. Realmuto and Ranger Suárez as free agents this offseason.

Teoscar Hernandez hit his 20th homer of the season in the fifth inning.
