Ravens pushed around, Jackson chased down in humbling 38-30 loss to Lions

Pushed around on defense and manhandled when they had the ball, the Baltimore Ravens stumbled mightily at home in an ugly, surprising defeat. The Ravens allowed the Detroit Lions to amass 426 yards — including a whopping 224 on the ground == which proved to be simply too much for Lamar Jackson and Baltimore’s high-powered offense to overcome. Stanton’s 450th homer helps Yankees close gap in AL East and conjures Hall of Fame talk

Giancarlo Stanton hopes his 450th home run won’t be the last milestone he celebrates before calling it a career. After hitting No. 450 on Saturday night in a 6-1 win over the Orioles, Stanton said: “It’s cool to see the names I’m catching and tying and going above.” Stanton hit No. 450 in his 1,719th career game. Only Babe Ruth, Mark McGwire, Alex Rodriguez and Harmon Killebrew were quicker to 450. His three-run homer off Tomoyuki Sugano sent the Yankees on their way to an important victory. The leaders in the AL wild-card race now stand just two games behind the AL East-leading Toronto Blue Jays with seven games left in the regular season.

Despite Juan Soto’s snub for NL squad, the Mets insist ‘he’s an All-Star for us’

The New York Mets consider Juan Soto to be a bona fide All-Star, regardless of the snub he received from those who selected the NL squad for the Midsummer Classic on July 15. Soto, in his first year with the Mets, has performed well enough to earn the respect of his manager and teammates. In their opinion, he’s deserving of a place in the All-Star Game. Manager Carlos Mendoza says, “He’s an All-Star for us.” Soto drove in the winning run with a sharp single on the first pitch of the 10th inning. That capped a night in which he went 3 for 5 to raise his batting average to .269 with 21 homers and 52 RBIs.
