Elaine Luria helped investigate Jan. 6 and lost her House seat. Now she’s attempting a comeback
A Virginia Democrat who helped investigate the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol is making a comeback bid in a key congressional district as her party looks to break President Donald Trump’s grip on federal power in the 2026 midterms. Former Rep. Elaine Luria co-presented the Jan. 6 Select Committee’s findings after Trump’s first term. Luria lost her House seat in 2022. Now Luria is running again in a state where Democrats won big earlier this month. Luria makes no apologies for her work on the Jan. 6 Select Committee and says Americans deserved to know the truth about the insurrection and the Republican president’s role in it.
