A summer of fashionable spoilers, from ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ to ‘American Love Story’

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” and “American Love Story” have yet to be released but social media users have had their fair share of spoilers from paparazzi photos and fan snapshots of the sets filming this Summer in New York. From the cerulean Met Gala carpet to a central park stroll, fans have caught not only glimpses of the costume designs on set but full scenes being filmed. While early photos of the costume designs for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” and “American Love Story” caused quite the stir online, fans say they still want to see all the outfits on the big screen next year.

Christian Siriano transports New York Fashion Week attendees to the silver screen

Designer Christian Siriano transformed a Macy’s department store into a New York Fashion Week runway show for his latest collection. The designer was recently named creative director for I.N.C., a Macy’s ready-to-wear brand, in celebration of the brand’s 40th anniversary. Siriano pulled inspiration for his latest collection from actor Marlene Dietrich and old Hollywood. Like the evolution of cinema, Siriano said he wanted to play with the color palette of his collection from black and white to Technicolor. Like Dietrich, Siriano designs embraced both the masculine and feminine. Celebrities from Oprah to singer Lizzo sat front row at the Friday show.

Q&A: Pulitzer Prize winner Robin Givhan chronicles Virgil Abloh’s rise to fashion fame

For her latest book, Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Robin Givhan takes a deep dive into the fame and legacy surrounding fashion disruptor Virgil Abloh. Abloh was the first Black creative director of menswear at Louis Vuitton. He rose to fashion notoriety with little fashion training but managed to captivate the industry and develop a large and loyal following from his fashion fans. Givhan’s book “Make It Ours: Crashing the Gates of Culture with Virgil Abloh” releases Tuesday. She shares how social media played a role in Abloh’s career and how influences from architecture to skateboarding inspired his design outlook. Abloh died at 41 in 2021.
