PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley and Dakota State University (DSU) have selected three vendors to provide a secure email system for local governments across South Dakota. The initiative, SecureSD, aims to fortify local entities against cyber threats, with email being a primary target.

The vendors chosen are Infotech Solutions, LLC, from Madison, S.D.; Riverside Technologies, Inc., from North Sioux City, S.D.; and Twotrees Technologies, LLC, from Wichita, Kan. They were selected following a competitive review process that evaluated proposals based on technical expertise, quality and the ability to serve local governments of all sizes.

The new email system will provide encrypted communications, multi-factor authentication, secure calendaring and protection from phishing attacks. The vendors will also offer training to government staff to improve cyber awareness.

“In today’s digital age, strong cybersecurity protections are not optional, they are essential,” Attorney General Marty Jackley said. “We’re proud to support this initiative that enables South Dakota local governments to protect citizen data and communicate securely without relying on public email platforms.”

The partnership between the Attorney General’s Office and DSU, supported by 2024 SB 187, is a proactive step to enhance cybersecurity for municipalities and counties across the state. Participating local governments in South Dakota can now work with SecureSD to choose a vendor from the approved list.
