Athletes compete at Pierre Legion Relays Friday

PIERRE ,S.D. – East and West River athletes met in Pierre Friday for the annual Pierre Legion Relays.

On the boys side, Jack Day of Rapid City Stevens captured the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 15.13. Rapid City Stevens also captured the 4×800 meter relay title for West River teams.

Raider Elias Gillen also won the discus for Stevens and Custer’s Kincade Lehman won the triple jump.

The Sturgis Scooper boys placed third in the 4×200 relay, but in doing so, set a new school record with a time of 1:30.60.

On the girls side, Scooper Avery Marler had a good day, finishing 5th in the 100 meters, third in the 200 meters and second in the 400 meters.

Peyton VanDeest of Spearfish won the 800 meters as well as the 1,600 meters.

Rapid City Stevens claimed the 4,100 meter relay and placed third in the 4×800 meter relay.

Claire Ashley, also of Stevens, won the javelin and Hill City;s Ashley Ronning won the high jump.

Custer’s Ciana Stiefel captured the pole vault for the Wildcats and Ava Holzwarth of Stevens won the long jump.
