Annual Mayor’s Ride highlights Saturday’s events at Rally

STURGIS, S.D. – Today (Saturday) at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is the annual Sturgis Mayor’s Ride, which will depart from the Sturgis Community Center at 9:00 a.m.

The Mayor’s Ride has been a part of the rally for 24 years, not only for the amazing beauty of the Black Hills but that it brings people together from all over the world.

South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden, who says he is making several stops at the Rally this weekend, was on hand to great those getting ready to ride.

Rhoden says “South Dakota is the freest state in a nation founded on the principles of freedom – and so many bikers come to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally to share in that freedom.”

Leading the pack this year, Sturgis Mayor Kevin Forrester, who talks about this year’s route.

The ride will conclude with lunch at Custer State Park and an opportunity to visit with the Mayor and local dignitaries.

Money raised from the Mayor’s Ride is earmarked for several local charities.
