RAPID CITY, S.D. — The 437 Project, a run across South Dakota for suicide prevention, is kicking off its fourth annual run with a community welcome event in Rapid City. The event, which is free to the public, is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Mountain Time at the Hilton Garden Inn on 815 E. Mall Drive.

On Thursday, Sept. 25, the runners will begin their 437-mile, relay-style journey across the state from the west side. They will tackle the changing South Dakota weather and terrain to raise awareness for mental health and funds for the Helpline Center. The team is scheduled to arrive in Sioux Falls on Sunday, Sept. 28, for a celebratory finish. The runners invite everyone to support and encourage them as they pass through communities along the route.

The 2025 runners for The 437 Project are Kyle Blakeslee, Tony Goettsch, Riley Knutson, Lisa Lemon, Bennett Mcintosh, Tony Nour, Laura Ringling, Dan Santella, Kristina Schaefer, Paul TenHaken, Lexie Warejcka and Israel Zinns.

The Rapid City event will feature former professional baseball player Drew Robinson, who will share his personal story and advocate for mental health care. Robinson’s tagline, “Strength Isn’t Always Physical,” encourages vulnerability as a path to improving mental health. The public is invited to cheer on the runners and connect with the 437 Project team. Complimentary food and beverages will be provided by the Hilton Garden Inn.
