Wanda Lee Sweeney, age 91, of Presho, South Dakota, died on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Winner Regional Healthcare Center in Winner surrounded by her loved ones.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. CDT Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Grace Methodist Church in Presho with Pastor Thomas Carlson officiating.
Interment will be held 9:00 a.m. MDT Friday, October 4, 2024 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with Dr. Bill Meirose officiating.
Wanda Lee Sweeney was born July 20, 1933 in Presho, South Dakota to Ray and Lois Roberts. She grew up in Presho where she attended school. On February 13, 1954 she married Mike Sweeney. In this union of marriage, they had five children.
Wanda Lee was a teacher in Lyman County for 41 years. Upon retirement she spent 29 years wintering in Parker, Arizona. Her enjoyment in life was her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and friends. She enjoyed playing bingo and the card game “65” and volunteering at the thrift store in Presho.
She is survived by her children: Kathy and Jerry Styles, Lynn Reynolds, Jim and Donna Sweeney, Mark Sweeney, and Mary Jo Hopper and Marlon; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother; Laverne “Buzz” Roberts; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Wanda Lee was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Lois Roberts and husband Mike Sweeney.
Arrangements are with Rush Funeral Home of Philip.
