STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Council passed second and final reading of their 2026 budget Monday night.

The council has spent the past couple of months hearing from each department and their requests for the next budget cycle.

Sturgis City Administrator Aaron Jordan says the council and department heads worked well together in putting the budget together.

Some of the biggest pieces of the budget include $6.4 million for public works, nearly $4.9 for public safety and $3.449 million for general government.

The total budget is $29,258,688 including all the multiple enterprise funds the city has. The general fund is funded primarily by sales tax and property tax.
