RAPID CITY, S.D. – Drivers in the southern Black Hills region faced a combination of dense fog and a vehicle fire on Monday evening, prompting safety warnings and traffic delays.
The Rockerville Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) issued an alert on Monday night, urging motorists to use caution due to significant fog in the Rockerville area. “If you are out and about tonight, there is plenty of fog in the Rockerville area. Please drive safely,” the department shared.
Earlier in the evening, a vehicle fire caused a traffic shutdown near the Cosmos area of South Dakota. The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. in the westbound lanes of travel, just east of Cosmos Road in the southbound lane.
Battle Creek Fire Department managed the vehicle fire. The Rockerville VFD was called to assist Battle Creek with a water tender.
