Rapid City, SD – The Rapid City Rush lose to the Tahoe Knight Monsters 5-3 Friday night at the Monument Ice Arena on.
Ryan Wagner (Bennett, Wilkie) scored the first goal of the game at 8:08. A hooking penalty on Cameron Buhl came at 11:40. With only two seconds left of the Buhl penalty Mike O’Leary scored at 13:38. The goal was waived off yet upon review the call was reversed. The goal was declared good. At 15:04 Mayer (Well) scored. The first period ended 2-1 in favor of Tahoe.
The second period was full of action with Rapid City taking 23 of their total 41 shots during this period.
Chairot and Collins took 5 minute matching majors for fighting at 4:03.
6:43 saw McGrew draw a 2 minute hooking penalty.
Wood (Bernard,Smedsrud) scored for Rapid City at 15:30. Just 5 seconds later Hubbarde took a 2 minute penalty for an illegal check to the head. Tahoe took advantage of this power play opportunity and Kallen (Bailey) scored at 16:11.
Tahoe’s Laskosky took 2 minutes in the box for tripping at 17:47.
The 2nd period ended with Tahoe in the lead 3-2.
Tahoe’s Bailey received a hooking penalty at 24 seconds into the third period opening Rapid City up for the power play. Instead Knight Monster Sloan Stanick scored a short-handed goal at 2:17.
Marcus Ekstrom (Smedsrud, Chyzowski )found the net at 10:02. Ryan Chyzowski’s 2 minute slashing minor at 12:50 set the Knight Monsters up for the game winner by Samuel Mayer at 1335.
The shots on goal 31 for Tahoe and 41 for Rapid City does not mirror the intensity of play behind the numbers. Sergeev takes the loss for Rapid City, Papirny for Tahoe earns the win.
These teams play for the last time in this three game home series Saturday November 8th at 4:05 p.m.MDT. at the Monument ice arena.
