UPDATE at 4:42pm – After investigation from the fire department, the smoke was caused by a faulty motor in an hvac unit. Crews are working on clearing out the smoke in the building.
RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Fire Department is currently on the scene of an incident at a downtown building housing a YMCA childcare facility and the Rapid City Area Schools after reports of smoke on the seventh floor. Parents of YMCA daycare should check email for location of children. No injuries have been reported.
Multiple first responders and two ladder trucks from the Rapid City Fire Department converged on the scene in the heart of Rapid City’s downtown area early Wednesday afternoon. Initial reports indicated smoke was detected on the seventh floor of the building, which includes the Rapid City Area Schools Administration.
